Sterling E. Lanier's copy, signed by him and dated 1965 on the front free endpaper. Lanier was an editor at Chilton at the time, and was instrumental in persuading Chilton to publish Dune, considered the best-selling science fiction novel of all time, and one of the most influential. Dune was the 1965 Nebula Award and 1966 Hugo Award winner; the first novel to win both awards. Laid in is review slip, with publication date for the book October 1, 1965. Also, a typed letter signed by Lanier, to a Mr. Kramer, describing his time at Chilton, with an ink ms. postscript: "Also put Dune into book form; no other pub. or editor would touch it then. Still making Chilton $$$$!" This is the true first printing in the rare original dust jacket, with all the correct information on the copyright page. Jacket with the publisher's "$5.95" printed price present (also, 4 lines of publisher info. on bottom of rear flap).
