Comprising a title card and 368 loose color reproductions of Phillips' artwork. (8vo) 18.9 x 14 cm., housed in two morocco-backed folders, gilt-lettered; slipcase. First Edition.

First Printed Edition of this seminal post-modern artist's book. Phillips has taken Mallock's Victorian novel, The Human Document, and intricately overpainted the text to create a wholly new poem. Number 24 of 100 copies, signed, and with each page signed in initials by the artist. Additionally inscribed by the artist: "one of ten copies with original [drawing]", but no drawing present; as issued. The custom cases were commissioned as a trial for the whole of the edition, but are apparently unique to this copy.
