35 pp. 2 lithograph portraits. (8vo) modern red morocco-backed cloth, spine lettered in gilt. First Edition.

An interesting dual biography of two important Mexican generals: Agustin de Iturbide and Manuel de Mier y Terán, the latter an important early scientific explorer in Texas in 1827. Mier y Terán worked to stop the United States from acquiring Texas and ended up committing suicide in Padilla, Tamaulipas, the same town where Iturbide had been shot (thus the ostensible reason for bringing the two men together in the present work). With a pair of fine lithograph portraits by Cumplido. Interestingly the subtitle of each biography is "El Rio-Bravo del Norte". Not in Streeter Texas, though the Texas portion of Mier y Terán's career is well covered herein.
