[xvi], 243, [7], +[4] ad pp. Five folding engraved plates at rear. (8vo) 19.7x12.2 cm. (7¾x5¾") period full calf with modern rebacking to style, red leather spine label. First Edition.

Cote's lectures, which were formal demonstration classes, were among the earliest of their kind in England. This work is also important for containing the first English edition of Newton's law of cooling, in his "Scale of Degrees of Heat" (pp. 213-219).
