Excellent example of an Ethiopian painting in traditional primitive style, depicting eight reed boats on a body of water, seven are crowded, one has but three passengers; there are beasts in the sea, both curious and ferocious looking, huts and bystanders on the surrounding shores. From the collection of Margaret Gee, originally purchased in Ethiopia by University of California at Berkeley anthropologist Sherwood L. Washburn, c.1950.
