Translated from the English edition of the same year, "The Importance and Advantage of Cape Breton Truly Stated..." "Bollan wrote this when in England in 1746 as agent for the Massachusetts Bay Colony, in presenting the claim of that colony for repayment of over £180,000 spent on the Louisbourg expedition of the year before. He refers to Pepperell’s An Accurate Journal of the Proceedings of the New-England Land-Forces, Exeter, 1746, as a reason for not making an extended account of the campaign, but does devote several pages to the daring of William Vaughan In due course Bollan also collected £200,000 in silver for the colony."
