Printed map, showing Ulithi Atoll with numerous numbered berths where the ships of the Pacific Fleet would anchor. 23.5x30.5 cm. * Two stenciled typed lists, each 3 pp., listing "Ships Present" and "Ships Berthing," with the names of the ships, their number and location of berth.

Fascinating look at the logistical complexity at Ulithi Atoll, a major staging area for the U.S. Navy in the final year of the Second World War. The map has "USS Prairie, Oct. 13, 1944" printed at lower right, and the Prairie is identified on the list of Ships Present as one of the Tender & Repair Ships. There is also a newspaper clipping, dated Feb. 19 (1945), describing Squadon 10 of the Service Force, in which the tender would have been. There is also a modern photocopy of a photograph of "Murderer's Row. Six Great Carriers in Ulithi Anchorage."
