Presentation copy with "From the publishers" in ink on verso of front free endpaper. First Edition of De Quincey's principal economic work and the only one to appear in book form. Goldsmiths' 33558; Green 152; Kress C.6279.

Condition:

Light wear and soiling to cloth, small chips to spine label, front hinge cracked, previous owner's name (Saml. B. Lyon, 1863) on front pastedown endpaper; an occasional spot of foxing; very good.
