Scarce little trade catalogue for lumbering supplies. The Holt Manufacturing Company was founded in 1883 as the Stockton Wheel Service by Benjamin Holt, who was later credited with patenting the first workable crawler tractor design. The company name was changed to Holt Caterpillar Company in 1909, and today is Caterpillar Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines and industrial gas turbines.
