With 46 plates (22 hand-colored & 24 monochrome) reproducing original 19th century lithographs and engravings of San Francisco. 22¼x34½, blue cloth, but disbound. No. 26 of 150 copies printed.

Legendary gathering of the lithographs and birds-eye views of early San Francisco. The number of lithographs that were hand-colored varied, and the 22 in this copy is greater than most. Though the colophon states 1000 copies were printed, only 150 were actually produced. The stitching in this copy has been removed, so the contents are loose, the covers detached; one of the plates (the Marryat view of San Francisco) has been removed, trimmed down, and matted. Most of the plates have prices lightly penciled in the upper right corners - the book was evidently disbound as a planned commercial venture that never came to pass.
