"Arcade was the brainchild of Art Spiegelman and Bill Griffith, whose unhappiness with the compromises of Comix Book had convinced them to put out a magazine of their own." The Best of Comix Book [Kitchen Sink: 2013].
Full run of Spiegelman and Griffith's answer to Denis Kitchen and Stan Lee's mainstream-underground Comix Book. Each issue is signed by various contributors, including: Art Spiegelman, Justin Green, Victor Moscoso, Bill Griffith, S. Clay Wilson and Spain. Alan Moore called Arcade "the only truly worthwhile material produced during the 1970s," which is silly, but Arcade does have a lot of fine material. Most significantly, it was a testing ground, of sorts, for Crumb's Weirdo and Spiegelman's RAW.
