Mademoiselle de Merillac's letter translates "Sir, I am not very obliged to the Divine providence to have prevented the displeasure that I would have had if I had not written to you today. Be to him Thankful for me I beg you for His Sacred Love, and if you please, Sir give the task to someone from your entourage to show the land that you took the trouble to assess to the one who came for that Wednesday.
I beg you also Sir to be so kind as to exactly see the letter from Mr. D'Annemon and to summon me if it does not make you change your mind for the return of the Sr Catherine Bagar and the other propositions that you made to your charity.
I thank you very humbly for the Benevolence that you continue to have for us. I implore God to protect you. I participated in the Cross of that good Lady in the apprehension that something bad might happen to you. May God in His Goodness preserve you and give us the Grace of your Return soon in good health for His Glory. Give me please you and believe me Sir, your very obedient and very obliged Servant, Marillac."
Vincent de Paul has added in his hand:
"You send this morning the provisions for the survivorship of your son. It will be necessary to request Brother Hubert to show the land, It seems to me there are some alterations to make to H. also we will talk about it on returning. I commend myself to your prayers & beg you Mademoiselle to take care of your health!"
