An excellent history of Walker's Texas Division, the largest single unit of Texas troops in the Civil War. Scarce.

According to Coulter, the author, Joseph Blessington, was "more travel-minded than the usual writer of regimental histories."  Raines describes the work as "one of the best war histories written, as to the Texas troops."  "The Unit served primarily in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and was the backbone of the Confederate forces of the Trans-Mississippi West.  Its major contributions were in opposition to Gen.
