According to Alastair Johnston in his 1985 compilation of Clapcott's papers offers: "This commentary was [Clapcott's] final effort that pertained almost exclusively to The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. Along with the others, it was Clapcott's intention that his research would be used as a basis for an imminent compilation of a comprehensive history of the club... In this particular paper Clapcott has returned to his logical analytical style in attempting to make some sense out of the inconsistent references to the name of the club during the previous 200 years."  Included is an autograph letter from Clapcott asking the recipient (Lombie) to destroy their previous copies and replace them with the present. Exceeding rare, as are all of Clapcott's writings, which until 1985 were known in only these rare self-produced typescripts. No copies of this title appear in auction records.

The included letter is written to Colonel Brian Evans-Lombie ("Lombie") who served as secretary at Muirfield from 1947 to 1964. Norman Mair, on pages 56 through 59 of his 1994 history "Muirfield: Home of the Honourable Company" gives an account of Lombie and of the clubhouse table and other details referenced in Clapcott's letter.
