Important report with a landmark map, "Map of Nebraska and Dakota and Portions of the States and Territories Bordering Thereon, Compiled By Bvt. Maj. Gen. G. K. Warren, Maj. Engineers March, 1867. Geology by F.V. Hayden, M.D. Professor of Geology and Mineralogy in the University of Pennsylvania..." This significant map, stretching from the Kansas River in the south to the Assiniboine River in the north, measures 109.5x79.5 cm. The coloring is coded to geological formations. Warren Heckrotte in his notes states that "Warren's map was first issued 1857-58 (Karrow identifies 3 states). It was reissued with additions in 1867 as a separate. This geological version deletes the list of authorities. Anderson Galleries Catalogue, sale 1781, 12/3,4,5/23, lot 889, is a separate, mounted on linen, folded into cloth covers, printed label. Label has notice: 'All persons into whose hands this map falls are particularly requested to send all corrections and additions to the Chief Engineer, Mil. Div. of the Mo.' Siebert sale, Sotheby, 10/28/99, had another copy of this, sold for $4312."
