An important contribution to the literary dispute over the origin of the aboriginal residents of the Americas begun by Joannes de Laet and Hugo Grotius. After Grotius’s death in 1645, Horn (1620-1670) continued the debate that had previously engaged Hugo Grotius and Johannis De Laet over the origin of the native inhabitants of the New World. Provenance: Ownership inscription on title page “Doc. Jesu Brug. d.d. Carolus Vanden Bosch Jan. 1665” and the initials “M.B.” on title page.   Carolus Vanden Bosch was bishop of Bruges from 1651 to 1660 and bishop of Ghent beginning in 1660.
