Complete typescript, 27 chapters, approximately 445 pages, plus third and fourth drafts of the preface, foreword, and table of contents.

Subtitled "A Political Civic and Technical Tale of Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California. A California Story with an American Application." Hall was the First Engineer and Superintendent of the Park, later State Engineer of California. Hall was the primary designer of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco with the assistance of master gardener John McClaren. The present work, apparently unpublished, is dedicated to Frederick Law Olmsted, landscape architect of Central Park, New York. OCLC locates only a few pamphlets on irrigation and a study of the Panama Canal by Hall, no full length works on Golden Gate Park among the recorded works. Most parts marked in pencil as the "First" draft, duplicate copies of the preliminary material marked as "Third" or "Fourth" draft.
