Large black and white poster, laid down on linen. 88.5x59 cm (34¾23¼"). A quote by Newton at the bottom reads, "The racist dog policemen must withdraw immediately from our communities, cease their wanton murder and brutality and torture of black people, or face the wrath of the armed people." Huey P. Newton, Minister of Defence. Then there is a little image of a black panther, and in the right lower corner is the address: Black Panther Party for Self Defence, P.O. Box 8641, Emeryville, California.

Famous photographic image of Huey P. Newton seated in a wicker chair, a weapon in each hand, as if in a royal throne. He wears the black beret and a pseudo-military outfit that the Black Panthers were known for. The photograph was used for the front cover of the dust jacket on his book Fire and Ice. In 1968 Huey P. Newton (1942-1989) ran as the Peace & Freedom Party candidate for Congress,  running against incumbent Jeffrey Cohelan. Newton was an African American political activist, who founded the Black Panthers, with Bobby Seale. Author of Fire and Ice and Revolutionary Suicide. A near fine copy of this very scarce and iconic poster.
