Woodcut map, modern (?) hand-coloring. German text on the verso. 24x34.5 cm. (9½x13½") plus margins; matted.

Curious map with Asia as Pegasus the winged horse, its head forming the Asia Minor, chest the Holy Land, Babylon in its shoulder, Persia on a blanket laid across its back, India on its rear, etc. A sailing ship roams the Indian Ocean, there are two mer-people, and a large fish. The hand-coloring is bright and vibrant.
