The best single work on the disruptions to law and order in Montana in the 1860's, well-written and comprensive, taking a larger, more historical view of the proceedings than Dimsdale's first-hand account. Adams calls it "One of the standard works on the Montana vigilantes and the Plummer gang of road agents." Adams Six-guns 1280; Graff 2390; Howes L78; Smith 5684. The engravings and the title-pages are on glossy paper, receiving excellent impressions.
