Albumen cdv photograph of Burnside. 4x2½, on original mount with imprint of E. & H.T. Anthony on reverse, noting the image was "From a Photographic Negative of Brady's National Portrait Gallery."

Union General Ambrose Everett Bunside is sporting his customary flamboyant "Sideburns." He is less remembered for his checkered military career. Mathew Brady's Civil War negatives fell into hands of E. & H.T. Anthony when he defaulted on payment for photographic supplies, and many of his most famous images were published by the Anthony firm.
