Albumen cdv photograph of Lincoln. 4x2½, on original mount with imprint of E. Anthony on reverse, noting the image was "From Photographic Negative in Brady's National Portrait Gallery," with an engraved picture of Anthony's establishment.

The Great Emancipator is seated in a chair beside a small table, on which his left arm rests. This picture was taken by Brady on February 23, 1861, with a steroscopic camera. (See "Lincoln: His Life in Photographs" by Stefan Lorant). Mathew Brady's Civil War negatives fell into the hands of Anthony when he defaulted on payment for photographic supplies, and many of his most famous images were published by the Anthony firm.
