Anthony thanks Bush for some information on Kansas voting patterns which he has sent her, and comments "I think you are perfectly right in your conclusion that in the nature of things there cannot be any more suffrage sentiment in your State than there was four years ago. I have been revising the speech which I Kansas City in the spring of 1894, setting forth the necessity of planks in the party platforms as a means of securing the discussion of the question in the political newspapers and meetings throughout the fall campaign... I hope the men of Kansas will never again submit the proposition of woman suffrage to the electors of the State until both the Republicans and Populists have made up their minds to declare it a party measure and to advocate it and urge upon every voter to stamp his ticket in his favor..." A revealing letter, in which the strategies and tactics of seeking the vote for women are discussed. There are a number of holograph corrections and a few underlinings by Anthony.
