83 leaves containing autographs, in a slightly larger album, comprising the autographs of Ullysses S. Grant, his Vice President Schuyler Colfax, members of his cabinet, supreme court justices, senators, congressmen, etc., over 280 signatures in all. Two of the signatures (one of them Gideon Welles, who resigned as Secretary of the Navy before Grant's term began) are clipped from other sources, the remainder are directly on the album leaves; most indicate the office held, or state being represented. The autographs are on the rectos only of the leaves. The album is 10¼x8¼, embossed brown morocco lettered "Autographs" on the front cover.
