Third edition of the first printed history of the world, first printed by William Caxton in 1482. The second edition, 1495, was printed by Wynkyn de Worde, Caxton's successor, and de Worde's name is on the spine label of this copy. Strongly printed in black letter type, with woodcut initials and a few illustrations. This was William Herbert's copy, with his ink name to the top of the title-page dated 1770; there is paper loss affecting the signature. STC 13440.
Condition:
Contents wormed, some light staining to earlier leaves, title-page with some marginal loss; lacking the final leaf, the colophon, still a fairly good copy of an early English work.
