Bright and attractive group of depictions of various perceptions of the Solar System, drawn by Isaac Frost, a prominent member of the rather curious sect of Muggletonians, which were formed in the 17th century and lasted into the Victorian Era. Among their tenets which survived to the 19th century was a geocentric theory of the universe. Tolerant of other religions, they held their religious services in an inn or tavern, amid much singing. These are fine examples of Baxter Colour Prints, a patented process developed by George Baxter around 1836. Though intended as a commercial process for applying delicate gradations of color, the technique proved too costly to sustain mass productions, and examples such as these are uncommon.
