A history of persecution and crimes against Protestants in England and throughout Europe. For the next two centuries, states Printing and The Mind of Man, the work was, "...one of the most widely read books in England. The lively style of the book, not to mention the gruesome illustrations, influenced the minds of people in all classes of society..." The present edition is the first English language to use roman typefaces, previous editions were printed in "black letter" gothic typeface. Also, the final edition printed by the London Stationer's Company. Fox's "Actes and Monuments", better known as his Book of Martyrs, was first issued in part in Strasburg in 1554.
