Important philological contribution. Planned for two books, this first one in eight parts "containing all the classical words and significations commonly known to the learned among the Arabs," and a second comprising "those that are of rare occurrence and not commonly known," but apparently the second was never produced. Formerly in the University of California at Davis Library, with rubberstamps at the feet of the title-pages, matter affixed to rear endpapers, spine stickers, a few other markings. The binding of Part 5 is not uniform with the others.
