Though Hodges' travels are of some note, and highlighted by his marvelous views of Indian towns and countryside for which he is justly famous, his work is eclipsed in importance by its companion, the first publication in English of the Bhagvat-Geeta, revealing the mysteries of the Hindu religion to occidental eyes for the first time. Most of the engravings in Hodges' work are paper slightly smaller than the body of the work, the margins of which are quite full.
