Presumably the second edition, published two years after the first, of Madame Freycinet's remarkable journal kept while accompanying her husband, Louis Claude de Saulces de Freycinet, aboard the voyage of the Uranie from 1817 to 1820. Hill notes that "The URANIE sailed from Toulon to Gibraltar, Tenerife, Rio de Janeiro, Cape of Good Hope, Mascarene Islands, Western Australia, Timor, New Guinea, the Mariana Islands, Caroline Islands, Hawaii, New South Wales, New Zealand, Tierra del Fuego, and the Falkland Islands..." Hill adds that Madame Freycinet's feminine presence caused a great disruption among the crew, though Freycinet did not hesitate to name an island after her: Rose Island in the Samoan island chain.
