Medical daybooks either meant for or used by Hemingway. The 1937 volume has "Ernest Hemingway" embossed in gilt on the front cover but is unused, the 1938 volume has a list in Hemingway's hand on January 1, entitled "Money received 1938" and lists royalties from "Scribners, Esquire, Ken, Cosmopolitan (noted as non-taxable), Warners, Stock sale 748.00, Bonds, other stocks [and] Douglas 40.00." On January 3, Hemingway has written the single word "Expenses," after which apparently his resolve to continue failed. The 1937 issue with copyright-page listing the date as 1936. A curious Hemingway memento.
