Canadian hunting and fishing guide, including angling in Cape Breton and on Anticosti Island. "A completely fascinating book; the author has humor, he is a true sportsman. Fishing the Margaree, where even in those days one was not alone, he indicates that various fishermen pitched their tents during the season....This is a truly remarkable book. The author has a wide and accurate knowledge of the fishes, and of the animals as well...He discusses at length the leasing of salmon rivers, whether or not public fishing or private fishing is the consideration. In 1882 the Matapede leased for $40, the Retigouche 'is perhaps the finest salmon river in the world, containing over 50 miles of fishing water'....A gold mine of incredible sporting information. Very rare" - Bruns R 118.
