Signed on the half-title page by 9 members of the Everest expedition including John Hunt, Michael Westmacott, George Band, Michael Ward, Charles Wylie, Ed[mund] Hillary, George Lowe, John Jackson, and Times correspondent Jan [James] Morris (some for whom the book is dedicated), who all made several attempts to climb Everest in the 1930's with only Sir Edmund Hillary and the famed Sherpa Tenzing reaching the summit of Mt. Everest.
