With 65 hand-colored engraved maps. (folio) 14¼x12½, modern morocco in antique style, decoratively stamped and lettered in gilt.

Greenleaf's noteworthy American atlas, a continuation of the Burr atlas. With most of the individual states of the U.S. in addition to Europe and the rest of the world, and a separate map of Texas in its state of independency. The title-page, contents leaf, and the eleven text leaves at rear are facsimiles, reproduced from copies of the 1842 and 1843 Greenleaf atlases in the Library of Congress, and the binding "has been made to resemble" the binding of the Library of Congress copy of the 1843 edition. This is noted on a printed leaf bound in at front, which also states that the maps were purchased at auction as a complete set, without the title or text leaves and unbound. Phillips Atlases 784.
