Gelatin silver print. 14x11. On the verso, in pencil: "Alma Lavenson / 1984-88". Tipped to mat.

Depicts a shop window with two mannequins, a man in sunglasses visible through the corner of the window, and in the foreground the reflected image of Alma Lavenson taking the photograph. A powerful image, contrasting the stylish mannequins with the reflection of Alma Lavenson in the midst of her work. Lavenson's series of self-portraits as a photographer, particularly of her hands on her camera, is an imporant example of modernist photography. Provenance: The family of the artist.
