Signature on card in blue ink: "Wyatt Earp", sight size 1½x2¾. Matted with portrait. In western style frame with brass corners. Frame size is 17½x14½.

Exceedingly rare Wyatt Earp signature. Wyatt Earp is probably the most famous name in Western law enforcement. Earp served on the police forces in Wichita and Dodge City, and travelled to Vegas as a member of the "Dodge City Gang", before moving to Tombstone, Ariz. in 1879. There, with his brothers Virgil and Morgan and a friend, Doc Holliday, he was involved in the controversial gunfight at the O.K. Corral (Oct. 26, 1881), in which several men were killed. Leaving Tombstone in 1882, Earp traveled widely, operating saloons in San Diego, Calif.; Nome, Alaska; and Tonopah, Nev., before settling in Los Angeles. (Columbia Ency.) Earp was apparently not one for writing letters, a contemporary would describe him as an inarticulate man whose speech "was at best monosyllabic" (Thrapp), which does correspond to the rarity of his signatures.
