De Frietas is anxious to enter into an agreement with Colt to license his invention, and while he can't send drawings ("they are in the hands of the gunsmith. I hae not as yet allowed the gunsmith to know the secrecy of how the gun is to receive its cartridges") he does "trust to your honor and herby inform you how the gun is to be feeded. The magazine of the gun is to be placed on the soldier's shoulders...he will with his right hand draw from over his shoulders a tape containing the 240 balls inserting the end of the tape in the breech of the gun..." He concludes that it will probably only be safe to fire 60 shots before overheating.
