110 pages, each with a large signature, plus one other signature on back endpaper. Oblong, 4¾x7, original cloth.
Scarce item of early Californian political history, containing 111 signatures of 19th century Californian politicians, many with decorative flourishes and some with inscriptions, date, etc. Includes Governor George C. Perkins, Secretary of State Daniel M. Burns, the State Treasurer, Librarian, Adjutant-General, and legislators from all over the state, most identified by their district numbers, including those from El Dorado, Siskiyou, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Grass Valley, Sonoma, etc. It appears that the owner of this album, Maggie Galligan, collected these signatures in Sacramento in 1880, when the newly elected government was just taking office.
