Lamp shade constructed from the vellum leaves of a medieval antiphonal. Staves in red, one large initial in blue and red (trimmed). Six panels, 16" tall, 25" diameter (at bottom).

These types of lampshades were used in the Gothic Library at San Simeon (pictured in "The Golden Days of San Simeon", 1971). Purchased from the warehouse at San Simeon (inventory #3133). This lot included fragments of the original packing box for this lampshade (along with the preceding lot) indicating that they were received in San Simeon three days before Christmas in 1939.
