This promotional booklet was written to advance the sales of mortgage bonds for the construction of the Central Pacific Railroad. The pamphlet reviews the legislative action on the project, aid from the U.S. Government, subsidies given, and the progress of the Central Pacific. By the time this pamphlet was written, 105 miles had been constructed, and completion was predicted in December, 1870. The difficulties of construction in the Sierra Nevada are listed, and the expected revenue during construction is given. This edition, July 1867, is not listed in either "Hopkins Railway Library" or "Railway Economics Catalogue" (each listing only an edition of October, 1867).
