100 pp. Illustrated with numerous full-page photogravure plates from photographs; a few maps; title-page printed in gold; etc. 16x12¼, full linen with inset photogravure portrait of Mussolini in uniform and helmet.

Scarce commemorative book honoring the visit of Adolf Hitler to Mussolini's Italy in May, 1938, as the two were about to engulf the world into flames. The many photogravure illustrations show the scenic wonders of Italy, her majestic architecture, etc. There are several maps, with one sequence showing eras of Roman domination of Europe and North Africa, with a view of the "L'Impero dell'Italia Fascista" and its colonies of Libya and Ethiopia. Accompanies by the May 23, 1938 issue of Life Magazine, which contains the article "Two Little Men Meet in Rome to See a Fascist Show," describing the meeting of the two diminutive dictators. Quite scarce; a search of the RLG Union Catalog comes up with only one copy, in the Western Library Network.
