Vintage gelatin print photograph of the first tee at the Del Monte Golf Course, Monterey, CA. Shows several men and young boy caddies surrounding a man getting ready to tee off at the first hole. There also several women sitting on benches and a couple Model-T automobiles in the background, as well as wooden houses and structures behind a fence and what appears to be a telephone pole with wires to the houses. Measures 6x8".

Founded in 1897, the Del Monte Golf Course is the oldest course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi. Designed by golf and polo enthusiast Charles Maud, this inland course has a meandering layout that has been a challenge for all golfers since its inception. It was the site of the first and several later California State Amateurs and continues to serve as one of three courses on which the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational is played. "Del Monte Golf Links, about 1909, 1st tee" inked on the verso.
