Hand-colored engraved additional title, [12] pp. + 72 hand-colored engraved plates with [140] pp. of letterpress decription. Plate 14 is without letterpress description. Text in English and French. (folio) 14x10, period crimson straight-grained morocco, gilt borders, sympathetically rebacked. First Edition.

The charming plates are based on the work of J.G. Georgi, who was published by Carl Wilhelm Muller in 4 volumes, St. Petersburg, 1776-80, under the patronage of the Empress. The present edition is similar to that published by William Miller in London, but with some variation in the choice of plates adapted from Georgi. See Abbey, Travel, 244.
