Scare and early signature, inscribed and signed with an original space drawing in period blue ink by Heinlein on the front free endpaper: "To my friends Jeremy Pierce, John Pierce and J.J. Coupling. Bob Heinlein," not dated, but circa 1950's. Heinlein's drawing shows a small rocket below inscription in the far left heading up towards a Saturn-like planet with three small moons orbiting around it (above the inscription), in the far right. Originally published two years earlier, this copy has Scribner's seal on the copyright page and has a 1950 date present on the title page. Currey, p. 234; Bleiler's Checklist, p. 97.
