Unusual tintype of an African American woman, wearing a dress and hat, seated in a studio with a backdrop of the Cliff House teetering on the edge of the precipice. This is a representation of the large, elaborate Victorian Cliff house build in 1894, which burned in 1907. Accompanied by a snapshot portrait of the same woman some 30 or 40 years later, standing with, evidently, her daughter.
