3x4½" clipped autograph note, signed by Anne Hay-MacKenzie, dated only July 22, but likely circa 1860's.

Anne, Duchess of Sutherland, was born Anne Hay-Mackenzie, daughter of John Hay-Mackenzie of Newhall and Cromarty and a great-great-granddaughter of the last Mackenzie Earl of Cromarty. In 1849 she married Lord Stafford, the third Duke of Sutherland, and in 1861 was created Countess of Cromartie in her own right, with a special remainder which ensured the title would never merge with her husband's Earldom of Sutherland. She also served as Mistress of the Robes to Queen Victoria from 1870 to 1874.
