Beautiful engravings of important Dutch and Flemish Baroque depictions of Old and New Testament scenes. The large majority of engravings were executed by Frederick de Wit, and some by Ottens, Allard, et al. There are engravings after Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), Nicolas de Bruyn (1571-1656), Maerten de Vos (1532-1603), Jacob Jordaens (1593-1678), Romeyn De Hooghe (1645-1708) and others. Four maps and de Hooghe's depictions of Jerusalem and "Wereldkaart" are referenced in Karrten in Bijbels, 16e-18e eeuw (pp.219-223, later states, these have text on the versos). The register lists 100 plates, which are not present in the order described. The copy at the Huntington Library has 91 plates only. (The present copy has a 99th plate also, but only the left half of the plate is still present.)
