133, [2] pp. Illustrated by Matthew Hillier with 20 tipped-in large scale color plates. (Folio) 26x19, full linen; brown cloth folding case. Limited Edition, no. 91 of 300 copies, signed by the artist and by the illustrator.

Scarce, beautiful book on rhinos. Hillier spent two years illustrating it, traveling to Africa and Sumatra to study rhinos and producing these large plates of portraits and paintings of five species of rhino, in addition to behavioral sketches. Rhinos are, he says, "wonderful subjects to paint." This copy has an additional proof plate laid in, and the prospectus laid in. The plates were printed by Adrian Lack at the Senecio Press, using a new waterless printing technique developed in Japan by Toray.
