North and South America, colored in wash to indicate the political control over the continents. The young United States is shown, as are the Isles Sandwich, Owhy hee, out in the Pacific (with legend, "C'est ici que le Capitne. Cook sut tué"). The northwest coast is much more accurate than in Janvier's earlier maps, the large Mer ou Baye de l'Ouest having disappeared, the scattered archipelagos to the north firmed up into Alaska, etc.
