Rare, early serial issue of The Count of Monte Cristo, as it appeared in weekly supplements to Le Siecle. The Le Siecle printings were released simultaneously with the first Petion, Paris, book release of 1845-1846, of which only a few copies were known to exist even back in the 1920's, and the present offering is probably one of the earliest surviving copies of this work. The first 19 parts are headed "Supplement au Journal Le Siecle du 28 Septembre 1845" and subsequent dates; the remaining parts simply carry the standard footnote "Oeuv. Compl. d'Alex. Dumas" on the first page. Some of the issues are creased from being folded.
